Located just south of St Georges de Didonne, Meschers is home to the Troglodyte caves situated on the side of the cliffs overlooking the Gironde. They date back to the 16th century when they were used by smugglers and a refuge for protestants. They have also been used as taverns and restaurants and presently as holiday homes. In the center of the town you will find a beautiful church with a small, enclosed market where you can buy fresh fish and meats. Meschers has various shops to suit anyones needs and lovely beeches to soak up the sun.
